Weekend outlook
Cooler nights but mostly settled days

Satellite weather map for Saturday 22.08 showing scattered showers across the UK and Ireland, with temperatures from 14°C in Aberdeen to 20°C in southern England.
A mix of sunny spells, cloud, and light showers on Saturday.

The weekend brings mostly settled and drier conditions compared to the showers which spread across parts of the UK and Ireland in the build-up.

High pressure building from the west helps to deliver the more settled weather, though a weak frontal influence does produce some light rain for those in the north and west. Temperatures remain around seasonal averages.

Despite the average daily highs, overnight into Sunday temperatures become chilly with single-digit lows in some rural areas away from the coasts.

Sunday continues the theme with a mostly dry outlook, though some remaining showers and cloud cover remains in the north. Towards the evening, showers return in southern England with another chance of turning thundery.

Moving into the new week, things turn warmer again as high pressure moves eastwards and south-easterly to southerly winds bring hot air north from Western Europe.

Another changeable period follows later in the week towards Wednesday which could bring more storms.
