Weather trend: Passing lows bring unsettled outlook

A more changeable outlook over the coming weeks, with a mild fall in temperatures after the heatwave.

From Tuesday, there is widespread rainfall across the UK and Ireland, most notably on the north-west coasts of Ireland and Scotland, with more than 50 mm of rain possible into the weekend.

These conditions persist through the week, with some periods of clearer weather. Mostly highs of 17 to 22°C, remaining warmest in southern England where highs reach up to 28°C with high humidity.

A slight chance of thunderstorms remains in the far south-east of England early Thursday morning, however it is too early for more details at this time.

From Friday, multiple low-pressure systems pass to the north of the UK, bringing showers and gusting winds to areas of the north-west.

Further south, under high-pressure, more stable, calm conditions are expected to start next week.

As we enter July, the unsettled conditions are likely to return.
