Weather trend - Remaining changeable, cool at first, then a little milder again

Weather trend
Remaining changeable

Frontal systems remain a feature over the next few days and probably into early November as well, keeping things unsettled.

Sunday looks set to start on a bright and chilly note, perhaps with some ground frost in places.

The sunny spells won't last long, however, as a new frontal system arrives with increasing cloud and outbreaks of rain.

There is even scope for some sleet and snow over Scottish hills for a time as that frontal band bumps into the cold northwesterly air stream in place.

The new work week continues to be fairly cool, with a mix of sunshine and cloud and perhaps a few isolated showers.

The larger scale flow then shifts back to a more westerly and southwesterly direction towards the middle of next week, bringing further spells of rain and wind, though with slightly milder air.

Depending on the track and detailed developments, one or two of these lows could end up bringing further coastal gales later in the week as well.

Temperatures meanwhile will rise a bit again, with both daytime and overnight values probably slightly above normal for the end of October.

Looking ahead into early November, little change is expected as low pressure to our west and southwest will keep things rather unsettled, with regular spells of wind and rain.
