Weather trend: Mainly dry and fine weather, but generally cooler than of late

Weather trend
Largely dry and fine, warming slowly

High pressure is once again in charge, bringing a good deal of dry and bright weather, although there could be a shower or two depending on where you are.

At the risk of repeating ourselves, but another large area of high pressure will dominate the picture throughout the week and beyond.

However, there isn't much to complain about as this means there will be plenty of dry weather with bright or sunny spells for many.

Some eastern and southeastern parts of the UK could also see some more extensive cloud and perhaps a few light showers at times.

Temperatures meanwhile are still much below what we saw last week, with afternoon highs typically between 14 and 18C depending on where you are.

Some coastal stretches along the North Sea could remain slightly cooler thanks to onshore breezes at times.

Gardeners beware: Overnight lows will be fairly cold early on and there may be some slight frosts in a few rural parts.

Later on this week and into the weekend, a slight warming trend is expected, with high probably reaching 19 or 20C in some central and western parts of Ireland and the UK.

Meanwhile, rain is forecast to remain fairly scarce through the middle of the month as the high pressure remains influential.

The continued dry and fine weather will also lead to fairly high pollen and UV levels as well.

Most of next week seems to bring similar conditions based on what weather models are currently indicating, with temperatures broadly where they should be this time of the year.
