Weekend outlook - Atlantic low maintains unsettled weather

Weekend outlook
Atlantic low maintains unsettled weather

Wind forecast map of the UK and Ireland on Saturday 06.06 showing a low-pressure system centered near the Irish Sea, widespread orange wind zones, airflow streamlines, and gusts reaching 45 mph in southwest UK and southern Ireland.
Strong gusts affect conditions on Saturday.

Unsettled and changeable conditions continue this weekend as winds remain unseasonably gusty and there's plenty of rain hanging around too.

The weekend starts with a fresh Atlantic low moving from southern Ireland into northern Wales, bringing more widespread rain and showers as the unsettled spell rolls on.

Winds remain strong for a summer month too, with a chance of gales in the far south-west of the UK, reaching around 50 mph for Cornwall. Slightly lower in southern Ireland and Wales with temperatures still on the cooler side, and chillier in the winds.

By Sunday, further spells of rain are moving across Ireland, north-western England, and Scotland, with the gusting winds hanging around.

It is drier with some bright spells to the south-east and east of England, though still a few light showers remain in that area.

From Sunday evening into the new week conditions remain changeable thanks to Atlantic pressure systems leading to a mix of rain and sunny spells, possible thundery showers on Tuesday.
