Weather trend: Unsettled, stormy outlook

An unsettled period of weather is delivered by sequential areas of low pressure over the weekend, before turning cooler next week.

The next few days will be dominated by areas of low pressure, with repeated rainfall everywhere until Sunday, including heavy showers and thunderstorms.

These showers and storms are primarily expected over parts of England, and regionally also in the south of Ireland, where downpours may cause local flooding issues.

The new week remains unsettled too, with further outbreaks of heavy, and potentially thundery, rain from systems arriving from the Atlantic.

Temperatures cool into the new week with these conditions, most notably in England, to start August, with a general trend of returning to more settled conditions following and slightly warmer in places.
