Weather trend
Mostly dry and fine, showers for some

High pressure looks set to bring plenty of dry and fine weather to the UK and Ireland next week, though some rain or showers may develop at times, too.

Southern parts of the UK and Ireland will see mainly fine conditions on Monday and Tuesday, while the north could see more widespread clouds and probably some rain or showers moving through as well.

Temperatures meanwhile are broadly near where they should be this time of year, still feeling warm in any sunny spells.

High pressure is then likely to stick around through at least Friday, meaning we'll see more dry and fine weather, with temperatures around or just above normal for mid-June.

Some cooler air may push into the northern half of the UK and Ireland at times, while the south keeps some of the slightly warmer air.

Into Friday and next weekend, some weather models suggest a return to slightly more unsettled conditions as Atlantic weather systems try to become more influential again.

This could lead to some scattered rain or showers at times, perhaps heavy and thundery at times as well.

However, the details are pretty uncertain at this stage and a larger change to wet weather seems unlikely.

Did you know?

The weather trend looks at signals of how weather patterns change over the next 1-2 weeks. Because of the chaotic nature of our atmosphere, small-scale shifts in those patterns can sometimes mean big changes to local weather conditions further down the line.

Temperatures meanwhile should remain mostly just above the June average, with some further warm or even hot days possible, especially across more southern areas.
