Sustained winds but beginning to ease

Storm Darragh, Sunday, moderate winds across the UK and Ireland.Gusting winds remain, but begin to ease into the evening.

Weather warnings for strong winds remain in place, but Storm Darragh begins to ease into Monday.

After peaking in the early hours of Saturday morning, Darragh is now in continental Europe. Despite this, strong gusts will persist into Monday.

On Saturday, two people were confirmed to have died in the conditions. Both struck by falling trees as winds reached a high of 96 mph in Capel Curig, Wales.

Rail lines are beginning to resume regular journeys, albeit with speed restrictions in places. Air travel struggled with the conditions. One flight, due to land at Manchester Airport, was eventually redirected to Frankfurt, Germany after circling for around an hour.
