Spreading chill winds - Mediterranean stays stormy

Spreading chill winds
Mediterranean stays stormy

Things remain turbulent in southern Europe: stormy weather is forecast for today, particularly in the central Mediterranean, including Sicily and Malta.

In Croatia, the Bora is sweeping towards the Adriatic with gale-force gusts of over 75 miles per hour. This is being driven by a powerful low-pressure system centred over southern Italy.

From tomorrow, the wind will also pick up in central and northern Europe – in England, France and Germany, but also in Finland and the Baltic states. Whilst stormy conditions will be limited to isolated areas, the so-called wind chill effect will make it feel significantly colder.
