It's a chillier start to the week compared with recent days, with snowy spells in places on a gusty Monday.

Weather outlook

Monday starts with snow showers in parts of Scotland, with rain in the UK. Initially in northern England and pushing south throughout the day, turning snowy over higher altitudes. Mostly dry across Ireland.

Temperatures are cooler than the weekend as the settled mild air moves on and cooler air returns.

Strong winds remain in place, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph in north-west England around Liverpool, and the north of Scotland around Thurso.
