Breakfast brief
Plenty of sun, stubborn cloud for some

Plenty of sunshine but some stubborn cloud in the east of England, south of Ireland and far north-west of Scotland.

A fine day to come under high pressure but with some stubborn low cloud and fog around.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the breakfast brief, offering your daily weather forecast and a sneak peek at the day's news.

Weather outlook

Some patchy low cloud or fog in parts to start the early morning, but with increasing amounts of warm sunshine breaking through as the day wears on.

A little more cloud lingering along the east coast, particularly of East Anglia and Kent, with temperatures a little further inland from here reaching the low-20s.

Further patches of mist and fog perhaps developing overnight under clear skies.

What's coming up in the news

Current weather conditions can lead to foggy spells, but why and how? Learn more later this morning.

Plus, ski season has arrived early in Austria. See pictures from the scene and hear more on the situation this afternoon.
