Onshore breeze a factor
Cool Northeast, balmy Southwest

Afternoon temperatures are highest to the west and southwest today.

It's quiet and settled for everyone, but there is quite a bit of variation in temperatures. That largely depends on cloud amounts and wind direction this week.

Southwestern parts of the UK and many western and central parts of Ireland are reporting a relatively warm 18°C this afternoon, whilst coastal parts of E England and Schotland only reach 11 to 13°C.

Apart from cloud amounts which may keep temperatures that bit lower in places, wind direction is key. Many parts of eastern Scotland and England have onshore breezes and sea surface temperatures in the North Sea are currently only around 10°C.
