Snow, ice and freezing fog have blanketed the country for several days now, with the latest heavy snow affecting London and South-East England.

Two major airports, Stansted and Manchester, were forced to close in the UK as a result of heavy snowfall, with many struggling to travel on the roads too, with numerous flights cancelled.

Up to 15cms of snow fell across parts of London on Sunday December 11th, after snow coated the south-east of England through Sunday night. There were even reports of thundersnow.

School closures have been announced across Gloucestershire, Devon and London to start the week. While in Solihull, there have been multiple fatalities after children had to be pulled from a frozen lake that they fell into.

Last night was also the coldest night of the year so far, with -15.7C in Braemar, Scotland. Temperatures will struggle to rise much above freezing through the daytime too, especially in areas of lying snow, with another bitterly cold night to come.

Whilst chaos has ensued for many, some have taken the time to build snowmen, have snowball fights, or even ski in Greenwich Park, London.
