Breakfast brief
Gales by day, freezer by night

The WindRadar shows a blustery morning over Scotland.

Strong winds remain a focus over Scotland and Ireland, with warnings active, while overnight, sub-zero temperatures return.

Kickstarting your day

Welcome to the Breakfast Brief, your first forecast for the day and a chance to catch up on things from around the world.

Weather outlook

Strong winds, reaching gales, remain over Scotland this morning. Most notably for the north-west and Shetland. Remaining strong over Ireland through the day, too, but beginning to fade towards the evening.

It is a mostly dry end to the week, outside of rainfall over western Scotland, in the same areas covered by the wind warnings.

For temperatures, the best of the warmth is found in southern Ireland with highs of around 12°C in Cork and eastern Scotland, around 11°C in Aberdeen. By night, negative temperatures return across England.
