Windy and showery, but sunny spells, too

Atlantic low pressure will keep things rather cool and unsettled through next weekend and perhaps beyond. But there may be some warm spells, too.

Showery and breezy conditions are expected mid-week as we keep the cool westerly flow on Wednesday. There will however be some good sunny spells in between those showers as well.

Winds will still be fairly strong for the time of year, particularly across many parts of Ireland, northern England and most of Scotland.

A new small, but active weather system should then affect many parts of England and Wales on Thursday, with spells of moderate or heavy rain moving through.

Elsewhere, further showers are likely, with brighter and drier periods in between.

Little change is expected on Friday and through the weekend as weather fronts from the Atlantic and rather cool air continue to dominate the picture.

Into next week and some high pressure may eventually try to build over the near continent, introducing some warmer temperatures in the south.

Some weather models even suggest much warmer and more humid weather to develop later next week, eventually leading to an increased risk of thundery outbreaks as well.

However, details may still change as uncertainty typically increases markedly that far into the future.
