Weather trend - Changeable for many, perhaps drier and more stable at times next week

Weather trend
Changeable for many, perhaps drier later

Conditions are set to remain unsettled for most of the week, with further wet and windy spells. However, high pressure may regain some influence later on.

After a somewhat quieter and drier Tuesday, albeit with a few showers here and there, Wednesday looks set to be rather wet and windy once again.

This is due to a new area of low pressure tracking just to our northwest, but with its weather fronts crossing most of the UK and Ireland.

However, the strongest of the winds should only affect far western and northern areas this time.

Looking ahead and further Atlantic weather systems are likely to develop over or near northwestern Europe through the second half of the week.

Still, warm air from the near continent could reach the southeast and east of England for a time, perhaps sending temperatures into the mid-20s this Friday.

Another low will keep things very unsettled over the weekend, however, with further rain or showers and gusty winds at times.

This pattern will give rise to some fairly high rainfall totals across parts of the UK, more particularly over Wales and northwest England, where we could see over 100 mm through Sunday.

As we head into the next week, more changeable weather can be expected at first.

There are then some indications for high pressure to become slightly more influential, bringing increased chances for some drier, but generally cool weather.
