Over 30 degrees in places - Early summer getting underway in Europe

Over 30 degrees in places
Early summer gets underway in Europe

The general weather pattern across Europe is changing. A strong high-pressure system is now bringing sunny and increasingly warm weather to many countries, including the UK ready for the long weekend!

Temperatures are set to break the 30-degree mark in Spain and France as early as Friday. It really does feel like summer.

Did you know?

It is still spring, both in meteorological and astronomical terms. Meteorological summer begins on June 1st, whilst the astronomical start of summer is not until June 21st on the solstice.

Even in London, Amsterdam, and Prague, temperatures will reach a mild 25 degrees or so. The sun shines, and showers will be the exception rather than the rule.

But that’s just the start, as temperatures are set to rise further over the UK's Bank Holiday weekend. Perfect weather for anyone spending a lot of time outdoors. In Spain, in particular, there are even signs of the first proper heatwave of the year:

There is still uncertainty over whether showers and thunderstorms will gradually start to develop. However, the current outlook suggests that much of Europe will continue to enjoy mild and largely dry early summer weather.
