Weekend outlook
Easing heat and showers bring relief

Temperatures fall by Sunday, returning to average for this time of year.

After the hottest day of the year arrived Thursday, relief is on the way as temperatures drop into the weekend and rain finally returns in parts.

Isolated showers could turn thundery across the south-east of England and East Anglia Saturday morning. These clear to the east later in the day but will be welcomed with after such a long dry spell.

Elsewhere Saturday, scattered showers continue to move through parts of Scotland though it remains mainly dry and sunny with temperature dropping to around average.

Sunny spells in the south and east of Ireland also start the day, becoming more widespread through the day before cloud covers move in overnight into Sunday.

Sunday itself will be much fresher feeling with a widespread temperature drop, falling by over 10 degrees in some. Winds pick up too adding to the cooler conditions, coming mostly from the west thus avoiding bringing more hot air from Europe northwards.

Into the new week, conditions are generally more changeable and cooler across the UK and Ireland with spells of rain or showers and temperatures remaining around the seasonal average at least until the end of the week.
