Showers and gusting winds
Lows bring unsettled weather

Weather map at 11:00 on 08.09 showing rain across the UK and Ireland and a cold front moving east through southern England toward the North Sea.
Tuesday sees heavy rain in the morning as a cold front moves through.

It's the first real autumnal-feeling week with plenty of unsettled conditions and cooler temperatures thanks to pressure affecting our weather.

Low pressure resting over northern Scotland on Tuesday becomes more influential with a rainy start, particularly in the south-east of England due to a cold front passing through.

Brighter conditions trail the front, with some showers remaining which could possibly turn thundery. Winds in the north and west bring gusts of around 45 mph.

Into Wednesday, conditions remain cooler with weakening low-pressure to the east. Mostly a mix of sunny spells and showers across parts of northern Wales into the north-east to east of England. Cloud builds over Ireland through the day with rain arriving from a new frontal system in the evening.

Later in the week, dry and mainly fine days are expected into the weekend across the south-east to east though the new front sees outbreaks of rain in the north and west from Thursday.

Saturday stays mainly dry but a new low-pressure system could bring wetter and windier weather back to the north and west again with temperatures throughout the week around the seasonal averages.
