Weather trend - Predominantly dry and settled with cloud, fog and some sunshine as well

Weather trend
A mostly dry and settled outlook

A large area of high pressure remains influential, bringing more quiet and dry autumnal weather, with a few exceptions.

High pressure situated just to the southwest of Ireland and the UK will continue to build across both countries over the next couple of days.

This means that the relatively quiet and settled weather is set to continue for most, although some light rain or drizzle will still affect the far north of the UK initially.

As is often the case with high pressure this time of the year and during winter, low cloud, mist, and fog patches may be fairly extensive, but there will be some bright or sunny spells as well.

Temperatures will change only a little at first, with fairly mild conditions during the day, especially in any sunshine.

It could, however, become chilly overnight under any clear spells, with a risk of some ground frost in prone locations.

The dry and settled weather is expected to persist until late next week, after which models indicate a slow transition to a more changeable and windy pattern.
