Weather trend - Changeable for many, but dry in the southeast at times

Weather trend
Unsettled, dry in the southeast at times

This weekend will be very mixed as a frontal system brings changeable and wet weather. Next week then sees a bit of a northwest-southeast split in conditions.

There is an uptick in Atlantic influence this weekend as weather fronts bring some wind and rain.

The wettest weather is expected this Saturday across parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland, where the rain will be more persistent and heavy at times.

Elsewhere, it will be more of a mix of some bright spells as well as outbreaks of rain or showers.

Looking ahead and the first part of next week looks set to be fairly dry and settled across southern and eastern England thanks to nearby high pressure.

Further west and north, however, additional outbreaks of rain are likely, with some gusty winds at times, too.

Low pressure activity out in the Atlantic will ramp up even more later next week as (then) former Hurricane HUMBERTO becomes part of the mix.

Gales are possible around the start of October, though details are still uncertain at this stage.

Things look set to remain fairly unsettled longer term, with further spells of wet and windy weather, while the south may see some drier interludes as well.

Temperatures should be mainly around normal values for the time of year.
