Widespread 50 mph winds
Stormy from daybreak as gusts spread

Wind map shows strong winds across the UK and Ireland with peaks of 50 mph and a wind warning symbol.Strong winds will spread across the UK and Ireland today, reaching a peak of 50 mph in multiple locations.

Take care today as strong, gusting winds in the early morning continue to build throughout Monday.

Heavy rain pushes south to start the day across the UK, having already impacted Ireland and Scotland in the early hours.

Over higher ground in Scotland, this rain could turn wintry with snowfall. The main worry today are the strong winds, already expected to reach 50 mph at 07:00 am.

Throughout the day these strong winds spread wider, with 50 mph widely reached across England and Ireland including for Liverpool, Leeds, Dublin, and elsewhere.

Overnight, fresh rainfall with the chance of snow over higher ground passes over from around 09:00 pm onwards as temperatures drop to single-digits.
