Scotland affected too
Turbulent times as gusting winds spread

Turbulent times are ahead in parts of Europe. The wind is set to pick up significantly, particularly in the south of France, along the Croatian Adriatic coast, and in Scotland and Ireland.

In the south of France, the Mistral – a wind typical of the region – is picking up in strength. From the Rhône Valley to the Mediterranean coast, gusts of 37 to 50 miles per hour arrive from Wednesday onwards, heightening wildfire risks.

Strong Bora winds on the Adriatic

Conditions are also set to become rough on Thursday along the Croatian Adriatic coast. The Bora will bring gusts of over 44 mph in places, and as high as 70 mph in the Velebit Channel in the north of the country.

WindRadar: The Bora is picks up considerably along the Croatian Adriatic coast where severe gusts are possible.

Ships and small boats should be prepared for rough seas.

Whilst the weather in the Mediterranean remains summery, Scotland and Ireland are already taking on an almost autumnal feel – with plenty of clouds, rain, and strong winds.
