Tornado warning
Thunderstorm front in the northern US

The thunderstorm season has taken off in the US. A massive thunderstorm front is currently sweeping across the north. Thousands of lightning strikes have already been recorded in the Great Lakes region.

In addition to frequent lightning, stormy gusts, and torrential rain, large hailstones and tornadoes are also a concern. Damage and localised flooding is possible.

Major cities such as Milwaukee and Chicago are affected. The risk of severe weather remains high over the next few days. The focus of the thunderstorms is shifting southwards towards the Southern Plains.

The LightningRadar shows the lightning strikes during the night leading up to Tuesday.
