World Weatherperson's Day
Time to celebrate weather lovers

It’s time to give it up for… us! Today marks National Weatherperson’s Day, a time to recognise not just professional meteorologists, but amateur ones too!

The date is derived from the birthday of Dr. John Jeffries, born February 5, 1744 Jeffries is considered one of America’s first ever weather observers.

From 1774 he took daily weather measurements and in 1748 flew to London via balloon to gather data for a study on air at high altitudes.

Today is an informal day to celebrate all things meteorologist. Whether it’s by checking out stories on your favourite app, or getting outdoors to carry out amateur meteorology yourself.

Meanwhile, we will get on with what we do best. Analysing the weather and giving you the latest updates for your area!
