The countdown to Christmas is officially on, especially for those in London, as their Christmas lights are the first in the UK and Ireland to be switched on.

The first of this year's Christmas lights has already arrived to Oxford Street in London, as of November 5th.

Next up is Carnaby Street, which has a different theme each year. This year, a theme of 'Into The Light' has been announced, with a sustainable display that is set to last five years.

Covent Garden begins its festive period on November 7th, as does Regents Street.

The Christmas Tree in Trafalgar Square will be switched on for December 5th. It's the tallest tree installed each year in London and is an annual gift all the way from Norway!

The rest of the UK and Ireland will generally see their Christmas lights switch on from mid-November onwards too. Be sure to send in your Christmas lights snaps if you take a trip to see any.

Don't forget to check the WeatherRadar before you head out too, in case you need an umbrella or to wrap up warm with an extra layer!
