    Temperatures could hit 32°C

11 August 2024

Hottest day of the year?
Temperatures could hit 32°C

With the peak of the heat reaching parts of the UK on Monday, temperatures could rise to over 30°C in spots.

Sunday will see heat build up from the south, with temperatures expected to reach the high-twenties across large parts of England and Wales.

However the peak of the heat is expected on Monday, when temperatures could even reach above 30°C, perhaps locally 31°C or 32°C across parts of the south-east.

With this however also comes the risk of some severe thunderstorms heading into Monday, with some uncertainty on their exact location for now. You can keep tabs on the latest on the WeatherRadar.

The heat and humidity is a result of Tropical Storm Debby, which drew some heat on an off-cut disturbance across the Atlantic.

While it is expected to be very hot in places, it won't classify as a heatwave. The definition of a heatwave requires a minimum of three days of temperatures exceeding the heatwave criteria, though this will only be two days.
