Stormy weather returns into the evening

Strong, gusting winds, spread tonight alongside a fresh band of rain.

The cycle of rainfall continues today, with downpours moving east into the night with strong winds as Ireland enjoys a warmer evening.

Weather outlook

Wednesday morning is mostly dry outside a small area of Wales, before the latest band of heavier rain arrives from the west. First reaching Ireland from around midday and continuing to push east into the UK into the evening.

With this rain comes stronger winds, particularly across Ireland and western Scotland, with peak gusts approaching 65 mph in Portree, Scotland tonight.

Despite the gusting winds, warmth returns to Ireland with highs of around 14°C in Cork, which is also felt in the south-west of England.
