This day last year, Storm Debi made an impact as the fourth named storm of the season, bringing widespread power outages and flooding.

On November 13, 2023, Debi first hit Ireland in the early morning, tracking across the country into the UK where wind gusts reached 77 mph in Aberdaron, Scotland.

More than 100,000 properties were left without power in Ireland as a result of the system, while landslides and flooding caused travel problems.

Though there were no known casualties from the storm, in Belfast, a woman was transported to hospital after being struck by flying debris.

Overall, while the system did cause some disruption, including flight cancellations at multiple airports, and more than 50 at London's Heathrow alone, it was a fairly mild storm.

In north-west England, some localised areas saw upwards of 100 mm of rainfall, contributing to a general gloom of the 2023 autumn season.
