South-East Europe under a heatwave

Work bans during the scorching midday hours, closed historical sites, and temperatures exceeding 40 degrees in many places. The scorching week continues for people in South-Eastern Europe.

Temperatures are already above 30 degrees in the morning and will reach over 40 degrees during the day. The heatwave is hitting Greece and Turkey particularly hard, making life difficult for people there.

There is a ban on outdoor work during lunchtime hours. Tourists are also affected with anyone planning to visit the Acropolis, for example, can expect Athens' landmark to remain closed.

Heat warnings have also been issued for the south-eastern Turkish cities of Diyarbakir and Antalya, as well as in the Aegean region.
