In recent days, stunning and impressive images of beautiful cherry blossom emerged from Japan. Gorgeous white and pink trees give the country a special look.

Every spring, Japan turns pink for a few weeks. Countless streets, parks, and squares display a sea of pink cherry blossoms in bloom. The Japanese cherry blossom is known all over the world, as it can always capture beautiful, almost magical images.

Across the country, the flowering period in most places starts from mid-March and then lasts until mid-April. Much like areas around the world home to cherry blossom, including Greenwich Park in London and Phoenix Park in Dublin.

If the cherry blossom is there, one has to be very quick, the blossom blooms on average 'only' for a good week and when exactly that is really depends on the weather in the preceding weeks.

The cherry blossom, called 'Sakura' in Japan, is seen by many Japanese citizens as ephemeral beauty and the sign of a new beginning of bloom.

This is why the flowers are often depicted on Japanese kimonos, traditional dress in Japan. Also, the flower is typically visible on tableware or other materials and souvenirs.
