Reporting from the river
Drought until 2023

Following the intense heat and lack of rainfall over summer, part of the River Thames dried up. Months later, there are still concerns over water shortages.

Weather & Radar Meteorologist and Reporter Tamsin Green visited the source of the River Thames in August amidst the summer drought to assess the changes in the area. You can watch back the video above.

However, despite any recent rain, several reservoirs across the UK are still at extremely low capacity. Almost 20 million people are subject to extended hosepipe bans, following water concerns.

Thames Water and Yorkshire Water have both said they expect restrictions to continue into the new year with rainfall levels insufficient to replenish reservoirs.
