The highest altitude pub in Britain saw heavy snow on Thursday night, coaxing memories of an infamous shut-in at the site in 2021.

Resting at an altitude of 528 metres above sea level in Richmond, North Yorkshire, the pub saw a flurry of snowfall Thursday evening as temperatures fell to sub-zero.

It is a scene that conjures the memory of an infamous weekend in November 2021 when heavy snowfall trapped 61 patrons, plus an Oasis tribute band, in the pub for three days.

The trouble began when Storm Arwen brought heavy snow to the area and damaged power cables, causing roads to become unusable and blocking the guests, plus seven members of staff, in until Monday morning.

All those snowed-in were offered meals for free during the ordeal which captured international attention, including from lead singer of Oasis, Liam Gallagher, who referenced the situation on social media saying he was jealous of those locked in the pub.

In 2022, the group reunited at the pub for a reunion, with the same Oasis tribute band playing to mark the one-year anniversary of their time locked together.

Snow is looks likely to become more widespread this weekend, with lots of pink hues on the WeatherRadar.

Freezing temperatures join the snowfall, creating a very apt wintry feeling for the start of the season.
