The Worm Moon rises tonight over the UK and Ireland, in other parts of the world a total lunar eclipse will also be on display.

March's full moon, known as the Worm Moon, technically peaks at 06:40 am on Friday, but rises full in the night sky for us on Thursday.

In the U.S. a total lunar eclipse will be a spectacular sight but does not begin until around 06:26 am GMT, long after our visibility for the event has vanished, a partial eclipse may be seen as the moon sets.

Often referred to as a blood moon, our lunar companion will take on a red tone during the eclipse as it moves into the Earth's shadow.

Visibility for the Worm Moon is tricky, with patches of clear sky restricted primarily to parts of England and Wales. Ireland sees almost coast-to-coast cloud cover through the night.

Check the WeatherRadar later tonight to see the latest conditions, and use the astro card in the app to see the exact timings for moon rise and set in your area.
