Balmy winter temperatures have been recorded along the entire Mediterranean coast, breaking records for Barcelona.

The Iberian Peninsula is submerged in unusual heat for this time of year, making seeing temperatures above 20C a regular occurrence.

Christmas Eve was especially warm in Valencia, with the mercury soaring to 26.5C in Xàtiva, while in Pego it reached 25.9 degrees.

On Christmas Day, albeit the heat easing slightly from the previous day, still saw unseasonable temperatures for December. Highs reached 25.2C in Valencia and Novelda, while in Andalusia, temperatures reached 25.2C in El Ejido.

It has also been exceptionally warm in Barcelona. Temperatures broke December date records, dating back to 1914, with 22.1C on December 25th, and 21.7C on the 24th.
