Thunderstorms recently developed on the WeatherRadar, but did you notice our new lightning feature?

After days of above-average temperatures with temperatures peaking at 27.5C at Chertsey Abbey Mead, it'll all came to a head when thunderstorms developed later in the day across parts of the UK and Ireland.

On Sunday afternoon, 13th May, thunderstorms developed across parts of Wales, south-west England, Ireland and Northern Ireland, before pushing north-eastwards into Northern England and Scotland through the evening.

You can now track the live lightning strikes on the WeatherRadar, as well as being able to previously on the LightningRadar.

The lightning strikes will appear and grow with a red outline, indicating the live strikes, before fading to the regular black outline after a few minutes. Check it out for yourself next time there are thunderstorms in the forecast!
