Japan's Mount Fuji is still without snow by the end of October, breaking its 130-year-old-record.

As of Tuesday 29th October, Mount Fuji broke the 130-year-old-record of marking the latest date that its slopes have been bare since records began.

This breaks the previous latest date of 26th October, recorded in both 1955 and 2016.

Its snowcap usually begins forming around 2nd October, with snow in 2023 recorded there on the 5th October.

There has been no snowfall so far yet, due to the unseasonably high temperatures that persisted from a sweltering summer into autumn. This summer in Japan was the joint hottest on record with 2023.

Over the coming days there still does not seem to be any sign of snow or low temperatures, as seen on the TemperatureRadar above.
