Breakfast brief
Mild, with outbreaks of rain

A mild day and night ahead, though with heavy spells of rain persisting.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the breakfast brief, offering your daily weather forecast and a sneak peek at the day's news.

Weather outlook

Early heavy rain will persist across large parts of Northern England and Scotland in particular, though with outbreaks of rain still affecting many across the UK and Ireland through the day.

Despite the rain it will be a mild day, with temperatures perhaps reaching 20°C or 21°C in London, with high teens widely elsewhere.

Tending to turn drier across Ireland later in the day, though with heavy pulses of rain persisting into the overnight period across much of the UK, with a mild night to come.

What's coming up in the news

The mid-week weather trend arrives this afternoon with all you need to know for the days and weeks ahead. Plus, for keen gardeners, the winter months can be tough. We're looking at how to prepare for the seasonal weather on the way.
