Just two weeks after the earthquake catastrophe in Turkey, another strong quake shook the country.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4, according to the USGS, shook the south-eastern Turkish province of Hatay on Monday evening, February 20th.

People ran into the streets in panic. Eight people were injured, but the number is expected to rise. According to the broadcaster CNN Türk, the power went out in Hatay.

The quake was also felt in the surrounding provinces, in northern Syria and as far as Lebanon. In several places near the city of Aleppo, houses collapsed again, said a spokeswoman for the aid organisation SAMS.

On February 6th, a 7.7 magnitude quake had struck south-eastern Turkey and northern Syria early in the morning, followed hours later by a second major quake with a magnitude of 7.6. More than 47,000 people died.
