Ireland first, UK Tuesday
Heavy downpours from passing system

After a dry and reasonably calm start to Monday, Ireland sees a band of heavy rain arrive towards the evening which pushes into the UK on Tuesday.

Western Ireland look set to welcome the deluge by Monday afternoon, as it slowly moves east over the country with strong gusts of up to 60 mph (100 km/h) in exposed areas of the west coast and 40 to 55 mph (60 - 90 km/h) more broadly.

Into early Tuesday morning, these conditions arrive in Wales and western Scotland, and into England for the commute.

The cause of these stormy conditions is an area of low-pressure passing to the north of Scotland, the full extent of which can be seen on the WeatherRadar.

A classic swirl of rainfall is visible as the low-pressure passes by the Faroe Islands.
