Ireland close to 20°C: Day of rainfall and flood risk in the UK

Ireland close to 20°C
Day of rainfall and flood risk in the UK

Weather maps of the UK and Ireland showing rainfall over England and Scotland for Monday morning and afternoon.
Parts of England will see persistent rain today on the WeatherRadar, while southern Ireland enjoy the small break in cloud cover.

There's a split in the Irish Sea today as Ireland brushes close to 20°C again while rain spreads over the UK.

After reaching 20.1°C on Sunday in Newport, Co. Mayo, temperatures in Ireland are again in the high teens with Cork expected around 18°C today.

Meanwhile, in the UK, Monday has started with a thick band of rainfall over much of England and Wales pushing south, which will soon be followed by lighter but persistent rain in Scotland following the same path.

There are currently 47 flood warnings active, all for parts of England, primarily covering regions in Wiltshire, West Berkshire, and areas north-west of London.

Changing situation

Flood alerts are a live service and change throughout the day, some may have been added or removed since the current time.

Tuesday looks to be a drier day for most, other than rainfall remaining over south-east England, with an otherwise overcast day ahead.

This is not the case for Ireland though, where high-pressure remains centred, keeping skies clear and temperatures reaching a high of 17°C along the southern coast.
