A Weather & Radar user managed to capture this spectacular display of northern lights on the island of Orkney, Scotland.

On December 18th and 19th, the skies danced with brilliant shades of yellows, greens and pinks over northern Scotland, thanks to the aurora borealis.

The kP forecast was a 4 at the time, and does look to peak to a 5 on occasions over the next week. Unfortunately, the weather does need to play ball for optimal viewing conditions though, which you can keep tabs on via the WeatherRadar.

A Twitter user also captured a video of its fleeting appearance on the Moray coast on the same night of December 19th.
