Icy conditions - A frozen start to the weekend

Saturday's skies are clear, but that means that temperatures plummet to below freezing across Ireland and much of the UK.

The coldest temperatures are overnight, making for an icy start to Saturday prompting weather warnings for ice across the UK and Ireland.

Highs for the day reach 5 - 6 °C for most, a little warmer in southern Ireland where Cork swings from a low of -5 °C to a high of 9 °C.

Further snow will be mostly over hilly areas at elevation, with the cold temperatures and ice the primary concern for the start of the weekend.
