Breakfast brief
Fresh to start but warming up later

Temperatures as low as 5°C or 6°C in places.

A cooler start than recently, but with plenty of sunshine developing through the day.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the breakfast brief, offering your daily weather forecast and a sneak peek at the day's news.

Weather outlook

Some mist and fog patches possible early in the morning in the west, across the likes of Wales and the south-west, with this fading through the morning to leave plenty of sunshine. Feeling fresher to start too.

A few spots of light rain across western Scotland and Ireland too, but an otherwise largely dry day to come with sunny spells across the board.

Temperatures will be rising into the low to mid twenties through the day, generally warmer further south, and with rain also edging up from the south overnight.

What's coming up in the news

Your Friday weather trend arrives this afternoon with all the longer-term details you need for planning ahead. For the short-term picture, don't miss the weekend outlook on Saturday morning.
