Breakfast brief
Flood risk and weather warnings

Heavy rain across the south through the day on the WeatherRadar.

A risk of flooding across parts of southern England today due to heavy rain, with weather warnings in force.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the breakfast brief, offering your daily weather forecast and a sneak peek at the day's news.

Weather outlook

Some showery spells of rain around initially, but as the day progresses, heavy and persistent rain will sweep up from the south into southern England.

The most torrential downpours look to be between Hampshire and later Cornwall as rain pushes westwards. Flooding and standing water is a possibility, particularly in time for the early evening commute.

Away from this area it will be cloudy and damp, while rain will continue in the south-west and South Wales into the evening too.

What's coming up in the news

We're keeping an eye on the thundery downpours which could potential spread in southern regions of the UK today.

Plus, one last look at summer with a collection of the best shots from the season, and we are entering peak aurora season. Learn more, on what is happening later this afternoon.
