Fifth storm in a month for Philippines

The fifth major storm in under a month is due to barrel into the Philippines, just days after Typhoon Toraji.

Typhoon Toraji struck the northern Philippines on Tuesday 12th November, with the country still recovering from the wrath of several back-to-back storms in recent weeks.

With no time to recover once again, Tropical Storm Usagi is now hot on its heels, set to make landfall through Thursday 14th November, local time.

While Usagi will be the fifth storm to hit the country this month, it will also be the fourteenth so far this year, with still no respite on the horizon.

The Western Pacific Ocean is currently experiencing a surge in tropical activity, with Tropical Storm, Man-yi closely behind Usagi, with its sights also set on the Philippines.

Typhoon Toraji, Tropical Storm Usagi and Tropical Storm Man-yi are all currently active in the basin, along with Tropical Storm Yinxing, which made landfall in the Philippines prior.

Their development closely followed Severe Tropical Storm Trami and Super Typhoon Kong-rey too.
