Cold in the UK & Ireland
New Year's outlook brings snow

From New Year's Eve onwards, the WeatherRadar repeatedly shows snow and sleet in Central and Eastern Europe.

At the end of the year, high pressure will ease off in large parts of Europe and low pressure systems will take over.

From the turn of the year onwards, the weather will be changeable, with snowfall and strong winds in Europe, but calmer and cooler for the UK and Ireland.

On New Year's Eve, a low-pressure system will bring snow from Germany to Czechia and Poland. To the west, there will also be sleet and rain. On New Year's Day, snow does fall in the UK, though only in northern areas of Scotland.

In addition, there will be strong winds at times, with some strong gusts, making the wet and cold weather even more unpleasant. These winds will ease off again from the weekend.
