Northern Lights descend over the UK

There was an incredible view in the night sky on Saturday evening as the Northern Lights descended over the UK and Ireland.

While typically restricted to more northernly latitudes, a boost in solar activity recently has seen the display move further south to the delight of us all.

It didn't just stop here, the aurora was seen even in Europe.

If you missed the scene this weekend, the increased activity is expected to continue until Tuesday bringing a few more chances. While the Northern Lights look vivid in pictures, it may be harder to spot in person.

It is best to find an area with minimal urban lighting and to capture the solar phenomenon with a long exposure shot.
