Irish warning issued
Heavy rain builds through the day

Weather radar map at 12:00 on 08.10 showing widespread heavy rain across Ireland, with blue precipitation bands and a rain warning symbol by Donegal.

Cloud and rain build from the west through Thursday, prompting a weather warning in Ireland as it moves through.

A yellow rain warning has been issued for Donegal, where today's rain is expected to be the heaviest across Ireland. This comes into effect from 04:00 pm and runs until 04:00 am Friday morning.

Up to 35 mm of rainfall could accumulate in the county by Friday morning as the front moves into the UK.

While there are no warnings live for the UK, accumulations could reach up to 60 mm in areas at higher altitudes such as the Lake District and Snowdonia (around 40 mm).

The area around Exmoor can also expect up to 30 mm by Friday morning, leading to possible surface flooding.

As the rain moves through, winds also grow with gusts reaching up to 40 mph (65 km/h) around Galway, Dublin, and Belfast in the evening.
