Worsening Bert's impact
Conall eases, moving into North Sea

Weather map ov southern England early Wednesday morning showing widespread rain. Heavy rain covered much of England and Wales early Wednesday morning.

Storm Conall has delivered persistent and heavy rain in some areas overnight, as the system continues to move over southern England Wednesday morning.

The rainiest areas include Dartmoor, Devon where around 47 mm of rainfall was recorded between 06:00 pm Tuesday and 06:30 am Wednesday. While the village of Sutton Poyntz, Dorset recorded 39 mm.

Much of the heavy rain has now moved into the Netherlands, with remnants affecting East Anglia and the East Midlands of England later on Wednesday.

The arrival of Conall so soon after Storm Bert has exacerbated flooding issues in some areas.

The Billing Aquadrome Holiday Park in Northampton remains subject to a severe flood warning, indicating a danger to life.

Around 1,000 people have been evacuated, though some have chosen to remain in place despite major flooding.

Gusty northerly winds affecting much of the south-east of England around lunchtime will slowly ease again Wednesday afternoon, though parts of coastal Norfolk could still see a brief spell of strong northwesterly winds, gusting to around 50 to 55 mph.

As Conall crosses the North Sea into the Netherlands, it continues to develop, and is expected to bring a more severe impact to northern parts of the Netherlands as well as northwestern Germany in the evening.
